Bella NutriPro “Cold Press” Juicer

The NutriPro is a new juicer from Bella and it’s their first masticating juicer. The use of the term “cold press” seems to be confusing some people but it’s simple, this is a vertical masticating juicer.

As with all masticating juicers it uses a slowly rotating auger (that generates less heat than a centrifugal juicer) to crush and press juice out of the produce. This is why it’s referred to as a “cold press” juicer.

The first thing that strikes me about this juicer is the price. It’s a vertical masticating juicer with a $250 price tag. Similar juicers from Kuvings, Omega and Tribest are all in the $300-$380 price range.

You can even do a 30 day in home trial (costs $14.99) and then make 5 easy payments of $49.99 which might be an option if you’re on a budget. Or you can buy it outright for $249.95 from stores like Macys and Target or through the NutriPro website.

But the low price doesn’t mean a thing unless it’s up to the job of juicing all those fruits and vegetables. So how does it do in the kitchen? Check out my main NutriPro review below!

The NutriPro Parts

Product Review

Before I continue with my review I have to make a disclosure. A representative of Bella contacted me and asked if I would like to review their new juicer. They offered to ship me a brand new NutriPro juicer for free so that I could check it out before writing a review. Obviously, I have to disclose this to my readers and state for the record that this is an honest and impartial review. If there’s something I don’t like about the NutriPro I will say so and vice versa if there’s something I like about it.

The photo above shows the parts. The motor base unit is fairly heavy but luckily there’s a handle which is a nice touch. There is a processing bowl, auger, juice strainer, lid & hopper, food pusher, 2 x handled collectors (for juice/pulp), juice filter (that fits inside one of the handled collectors) and a cleaning brush.

Also included were an instruction booklet, recipe booklet, drinking cup with lid and a rather nice juicing wheel which helps you to plan out what to put in your juices according to what nutrients you want and whether you want a sweet, bold or neutral flavor.

As with all masticating juicers you’ve got to prepare your fruits and vegetables. The feed tube is a decent size for a masticating juicer but you’re going to want to chop up everything and especially hard fruits and vegetables like carrots and apple. It’s fairly easy to jam this juicer with a large chunk of carrot but that’s true on all masticating juicers.

Carrots, Honeycrisp Apple, Mandarins & Blood Orange

The harder the produce the smaller you’re going to want to cut it. It also helps to alternate between hard and soft produce. Like I said before, this isn’t really a fault of the juicer; it’s a feature of all juicers of this type. This isn’t a juicer than jams excessively but it does jam sometimes especially harder fruits and vegetables.

Quite often I hear owners of new masticating juicers complain about how they keep jamming up. They aren’t like centrifugal juicers and you can’t just toss in a whole carrot and expect it to handle it. You need to work with a masticating juicer and not against it.

There is of course a reverse switch if you do get a jam. I used this several times when juicing pieces of carrot and noticed on a couple of occasions that the reverse motion seemed to unlock the lid. If you hold the lid firmly when using the reverse switch it’s not a problem but it’s certainly something that Bella needs to look into.

The NutriPro In Action

The juice produced contains quite a lot of pulp but luckily Bella provides a strainer that sits in the juice collector. If you like lots of pulp you’re not going to use it but if you don’t like pulp it’s a really useful addition. The juices I made tasted amazing and much clearer than juice from a centrifugal. It was slightly pulpy even when using the strainer but you get this with juice from a lot of masticating juicers. You can always strain with something finer like a nut milk bag if it’s still too pulpy for you.

The yield is not bad but the pulp is far from dry. I’d like to say it was damp but it was actually wet. When I say wet I don’t mean dripping wet, but I could squeeze fairly gently and still get juice out of it. See I told you this was an honest and impartial review!

The Pulp & Juice Cups

Cleaning is fairly easy. It took me about 5 minutes to wash everything. The juice screen is the most difficult thing to get clean and it takes a little effort to get it totally clean. The pulp spout also needed cleaning out but Bella supply a cleaning brush which doubles as a spout unblocking tool if you use the other end of it.

This juicer is definitely worth the price. It feels well constructed and performs well. The juice produced is of excellent quality and the yield is good. Is it the perfect masticating juicer? No, but for $250 it’s pretty impressive and produced high quality juice. Considering the price it’s well worth taking a look at if you’re in the market for a new masticating juicer. The monthly payments option at the NutriPro website also makes it a great way to get a high quality juicer without paying all at once.

The Juice Tasted Pretty Good!

Full Description From Bella

With the NutriPro juicer, users are able to get more juice and more nutrients for optimal health and wellness than other conventional juicers by thoroughly squeezing each fruit and vegetable.

The Bella NutriPro Cold Press Juicer utilizes a two-stage cold press juicing technology that operates via a chewing (mastication) method to produce high-quality juice from each fruit and vegetable.

The single juicing screw in the processing bowl first crushes, the compresses and squeezes out the juice. There are no fast-spinning blades that cut and pulverize the fruits and vegetables to produce juice.

With the no-blade, cold press technology, oxidation is minimized, no heat is used, and more nutrients and enzymes are preserved. (Most traditional juicers and blenders that claim to juice use blades that shred and break open the cell walls of the produce, exposing it to oxygen and therefore affecting the integrity of the nutrients and enzymes.

Enzymes are a necessity for the health and healing of the body. They help break down foods and tell the nutrients where they are most needed in the body. Enzymes aid digestion, keep you youthful and vibrant and increase energy.

Besides the health value, the NutriPro Juicer users can get more juice from certain fruits and vegetables than other juicers. For example, the NutriPro got 66% more pineapple juice than one of its main competitors.

I’ve been debating if I should buy this juicer or not. I like the idea of the free trial period and paying in installments. After reading your review I have gone ahead and ordered one. Thanks a lot for your review as it has helped me to make up my mind!

WOW, I own a “juicer” but its such a pain to clean it. This one, Bella NutriPro “cold press” Juicer, looks like its much much more simple… LOVE IT! (BUT PRICE TO HIGH FOR ME.)

      Hi Darlene!

Some juicers are easier to clean than others. I found the NutriPro quite easy to clean and certainly a lot easier to clean than my old Jack Lalanne Power Juicer Pro. It takes a bit longer to juice with a masticating because you have to prep the produce more but I find that I save time on cleaning it at the end because it’s easier to clean.

Anyway, don’t forget you can always pay in monthly installments for a NutriPro. It’s an option if you really want a good juicer without paying all at once. Hope your juicing is going well. It really is worth all the effort!

      Thanks
      Denise 🙂

Looks like a pretty good juicer and for the price, that’s not bad at all considering what some of the others cost. I will have to check this one out 🙂
